Title: Yours at Midnight [Goodreads][Amazon]
Publisher: Entangled
Format: eARC
Release Date: December 18, 2012
In My Opinion: Add to cart!
One Line: A very sweet and stirring romance with quite a few surprises.
Lyric Whetsone only had eyes for Quinn Sobel’s brother Oliver, until a car crash took Oliver’s life on New Year’s Eve. Then, a moment of shared grief between Quinn and Lyric became something more impassioned, something that frightened Quinn so much he ran from Lyric’s bed and her life, disappearing for four long years.
Now Quinn’s back for another New Year’s Eve, struggling for closure, desperate to leave his grief in the past and make amends with the girl of his dreams.
But Lyric has a secret–one that could drive Quinn from her life forever. Will Quinn run away from the love and acceptance he’s always wanted…or will he claim his New Year’s kiss and make her his at midnight?
Oh yes, I am really loving all these short romances. Yours at Midnight is no exception. I really loved this one!
First off, let me say how I am loving the name Lyric. Yes, it’s different, but in a good way. The characters do talk about her name in the book and there is some gripe about it from the main character, but I love it. Anyways, when I first read the synopsis for this, I knew I had to read it because it sounded so good. This was one of those “feel good” stories that is perfect for the holiday season, or to any time really because it’ll just put you in a good mood. The characters are fun, the romance was sizzling, and the drama was exquisite.
Lyric and Quinn have known each other since they were kids and have always been at odds. Lyric had a thing for Quinn’s twin brother Oliver and Quinn has always felt like “second best” to his brother. Oliver’s death tore them to pieces and they have since, put their lives back together as best they could, but not without sharing a passionate night together. The story starts off with Quinn coming back into town for the holidays, and since their families are so close, he ends up spending a lot of time with them and sparks start to fly between him and Lyric again.
It’s through all this that secrets come to light and Lyric and Quinn own up to how they really feel for one another. You can definitely feel the attraction, and not only that, their romance is quite sweet as their past gets uncovered. I really loved them together and was totally rooting for them. What I really loved about this was how Robin held onto Lyric’s secret until the last possible moment. I didn’t even realize that I didn’t realize it until it came out (if that makes any sense). The writing was great, the pacing was steady, and it was in dual POVs. What’s not to love?
Yours at Midnight was definitely one of those sweet, romantic love stories you’ll easily devour in one sitting. There are some sad moments, when they look back on memories of Oliver, but also a lot of fun and precious moments that I couldn’t get enough of. This one left me wanting more and I’ll be begging Robin to continue with this cast of wonderful characters in any way possible. Trust me, you’ll have so much fun reading this one, you won’t want it to end!

I totally agree! This was the first book I read this year, and I loved it! What a perfect way to start off the new year. So sweet and fun and romantic, with just enough heaviness to give it some weight. Loved it!
